My client is the rapidly growing European subsidiary of a global Film company who specialise in lighting, rigging, generators, etc. They also own film studies as well as facilitate studios for other organisations.

They seek a reliable, self-motivated individual to work as a Repairs Triage Technician as part of their operations department in Slough Berkshire. You will have experience of reviewing electrical / mechanical repairs that are to be passed to the technical team and experience of ticketing systems including making detailed notes. You will also aid the repairs administrator.

Key Duties

  • Reviewing all items that are brought to the triage department to assess quick repairs or if they need to be submitted to the technical team.
  • Creating repairs tickets for each damaged or broken item as they are received from other departments.
  • Adding detailed notes of the damage to the item in the ticket description and multiple photos on to the RT Pro system.
  • Using RT Pro stock control system to identify when repairs are chargeable to a production and marking them as such.
  • Aiding the repairs administrator with queries regarding billable repairs as early and accurately as possible.
  • Preparing all the repairs into containers or on pallets to send to the internal team or external supplier as required.
  • Understanding the priorities of the incoming repair stock and highlighting any priority items to the repairs team.
  • Liaising with colleagues in the accounts department on equipment returning from productions with known faults.
  • Liaising with colleagues in the prep departments to ensure damaged equipment is processed in good time upon return.
  • Liaising with the relevant team members regarding items beyond economical repair and following the process for recording and disposing of these items.
  • Ensure the repairs triage area is always maintained in an efficient and organised manner with all equipment easily accessible and identifiable.

Person specification

  • Must have a valid and clean UK Driving licence
  • Be able to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • To be able to work under pressure to changing deadlines.
  • Be willing to learn new skills and systems.
  • Be willing to help in other departments when time allows to fulfil orders.
  • Self-motivated and organised with the ability to plan workload and keep track of multiple jobs.
  • To be able to keep workspace clean and tidy.
  • Understanding of safety in the workplace and able to identify/remove hazards.
  • Be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Experience in the lighting industry is desirable but not essential.
  • An interest in the lighting industry for film, television, and live events in desirable
  • Core hours of working are 8.30am - 17.30pm Monday to Friday.

Additional Considerations:

Part of the role may involve taking of project briefs and working autonomously to fulfil them, for example during department moves, stock takes and audits. Working as part of the wider warehouse team, if needed to cover absences, high workloads and unforeseen circumstances.

Weekend and extended hours working is required as the business demands. We work to a highly skilled clientele who demand high levels of service and response.
