Are you a passionate and experienced SENDCo looking for a new opportunity in a specialist setting? We are recruiting on behalf of a special school in Slough that supports children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified SENDCo to join this well-established and highly regarded special school. This role requires a proactive and compassionate leader who can coordinate SEND provision effectively, ensuring that all pupils receive the tailored support they need to thrive academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the SEND provision across the school.
- Support pupils with EHCPs, ensuring their needs are met through effective intervention strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to create a nurturing and structured learning environment.
- Provide guidance and training to staff to enhance SEND provision across the curriculum.
- Oversee Alternative Provision (AP) placements and support reintegration programmes where necessary.
About the School:
This specialist provision caters to primary-aged pupils (4-11 years) with EHCPs, offering a structured and supportive environment tailored to their individual needs. The school also provides Alternative Provision placements for Slough-based pupils at risk of exclusion. With a strong focus on personal development, emotional regulation, and academic progress, the school empowers pupils to build confidence, resilience, and respect for themselves and others.
The curriculum follows the National Curriculum, adapted to suit individual learners, and is enriched with community partnerships, music and enterprise days, and well-being initiatives. Parents and families are actively involved in the school's holistic approach to education.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualified SENDCo with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it).
- QTS and experience working with pupils with SEMH needs.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to implement effective SEND strategies to support pupil progress.
- Experience working within a specialist or alternative provision setting is desirable.
