We are looking for a personable and organised Design Engineer to join our clients growing team. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy problem-solving, and have a keen eye for detail, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative engineering solutions within the Steel Framing Systems (SFS) and Light Gauge Steel (LBS) sector.

As a key member of their team, you will provide technical support for a variety of projects, working closely with colleagues and customers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Take ownership of engineering reports and project work, applying independent judgement to solve complex engineering challenges.

Work to clear deadlines to ensure training and design tasks are delivered on time.

Build strong relationships with colleagues and customers, ensuring interactions align with company values.

Adopt a proactive approach to continuous improvement, contributing to product and process development.

Provide technical support to customers, assisting in achieving business growth targets.

Attend meetings and collaborate with other departments to support business and organisational development.

Keep up to date with competitors’ technical offerings and benchmark best practices.

Maintain and develop engineering design tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

Education & Qualifications:

BEng/MEng degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years experience in consultancy or light gauge steel design.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

Strong structural analysis knowledge, with the ability to complete clear hand calculations.

Experience with SFS and LBS systems.

High level of computing skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant design software.

Proficiency in Autodesk 2D & 3D software and a strong understanding of technical drawings.

Familiarity with Eurocodes (including Annexes) and industry advisory bodies.

Awareness of commercial aspects, including pricing structures and take-offs.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
