Sea Freight Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sea Freight Cross Trade Operator to join our dynamic logistics team, working on a major customer account. This role will involve coordinating and managing shipments originating from key locations such as China, Japan, and the Far East USA, with final destinations in the UK and Australia. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods across international waters, handling all aspects of sea freight operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Cross Trade Shipments: Manage the end-to-end process of sea freight shipments, ensuring smooth operations from origin (China, Japan, Far East USA) to destination ports in the UK and Australia, South Africa.
  • Liaise with Customers & Suppliers: Act as the primary point of contact for the customer, working closely with suppliers, shipping lines, and port authorities to facilitate timely and cost-effective shipments.
  • Documentation Management: Oversee the preparation and submission of all required shipping documents, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs documentation.
  • Track Shipments: Monitor the progress of shipments, proactively resolving any issues related to transit delays, cargo damage, or customs clearance.
  • Cost Optimization: Collaborate with internal teams to manage budgets, optimize transportation costs, and ensure that shipments are compliant with all regulations.
  • Problem Solving: Handle any operational challenges, such as route changes, delays, or compliance issues, with a proactive approach to ensuring minimal disruption to customer operations.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in sea freight operations, preferably with a focus on cross trade and major customer accounts.
  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping procedures, customs regulations, and Incoterms.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments concurrently.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
