Compliance Officer
Location: Remote/Flexible, with the option to work from the firm’s new office in Solihull

My client is a growing, dynamic legal firm with an expanding presence that has recently opened a new office in Solihull. With a strong commitment to delivering high-quality legal services, it is seeking a qualified Compliance Solicitor to oversee and manage its compliance responsibilities in accordance with SRA regulations. This position would also suit a Conveyancing Solicitor with extensive experience within compliance.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced qualified solicitor to assume the critical roles of COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice) and MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer), as well as hold the nominal position of Partner to satisfy lender panels and the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) requirements. This position offers exceptional flexibility in terms of working hours and location and could be tailored as a full-time, part-time or consultancy role.
This role is ideal for a solicitor who is not looking to run a caseload but wants to focus on compliance and regulatory matters. It’s perfect for someone seeking an excellent work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
- Hold the nominal position of Partner to satisfy lender panels and CQS requirements
- Ensure the firm’s compliance with all SRA regulations and standards
- Provide advice and assistance on general regulatory and compliance matters
- Assist in preparing for and responding to SRA audits and other regulatory inquiries
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory changes
- Report any compliance issues or breaches promptly to the appropriate authorities
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate
- Demonstrable experience as a COLP and MLRO
- Extensive experience in legal compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Strong understanding of SRA regulations, anti-money laundering laws, and CQS requirements
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and advisory skills
