Are you ready to become a pivotal player in the automotive industry? We're seeking a dynamic Technical Advisor to join our team in Solihull!

The Technical Adviser is the key contact person between the clients Dealer network and the respective vehicle Manufacturers. This role requires a full and comprehensive understanding of their products, process, systems, automotive legislation and manufacturers policies and procedures.

As a Technical Advisor, you will need to have/be:

  • A minimum 5 years' experience working within a busy franchise dealer, vehicle manufacturer or technical service role
  • Have experience of working on alternative fuel powered vehicles
  • Have a good working knowledge of connected car technology, APP integration and have relevant BTech or City and Guilds, IMI Automotive Technical qualifications
  • Excellent Motor Vehicle mechanical knowledge, by experience and qualification
  • Previous experience of working within an automotive Aftersales department
  • First class knowledge of all aspects of dealer aftersales systems and practices
  • Have good I.T Skills - including but not limited to MS Office suite of products
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to time manage, multi-task, and prioritise
  • Ability to work as part of a team or using your own initiative

Role of a Technical Advisor:

  • Receiving and responding to telephone calls from dealers requesting responses to their customer concerns appertaining to technical, accessories and vehicle conversions.
  • Identifying any product issues, provide detailed reports on the issues to the technical team and where necessary the respective vehicle manufacturer.
  • Assisting where necessary regarding legal issues and should the need arise attending court.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the technical reference library, with specific attention to technical data, accessories, and vehicle conversions.
  • Communication and teamwork: To develop and maintain professional, positive working relationships with all the dealership partners and manufacturers.
  • Manage the departments, manufacturer, and business information flow to reduce defect reoccurrence, improve defect resolution times, to ultimately improve manufacturer relationships and customer, dealer satisfaction.
  • Provide detailed daily reports on dealer product issues and distribute these to the line manager and colleagues to identify dealer specific problems.
  • Keep daily log of all dealers who contact to identify department work loading and resource allocation.
  • Identify product issues and produce detailed technical reports for manufacturers and department personnel to aid in the speedy resolution of product defects
  • Work with manufactures in the production of and distribute of all technical bulletins and technical literature.
  • Work with department colleagues to track trends in product issues and produce reports to facilitate further manufacturer actions to help with their investigations and continuous product improvement.
