An experienced Payroll specialist is sought for this growing Multi-Academy Trust in Essex. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for ensuring the effective strategic and operational management of the Trust’s payroll and pensions function.

Supporting 650 staff, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for:

  • Timely and accurate end to end monthly processing using EduPay
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements of PAYE, HMRC, NI and administration of Teacher and support staff pension schemes (LGPS and TPS)
  • Monitoring and reconciling monthly payroll data against budget projections, ensuring they reconcile with each school.
  • Reporting information to the finance team and other relevant stakeholders.

The successful Payroll Manager will be qualified to GCSE level including Maths and English, with a recognized payroll qualification (CIPP). You will have experience of working in a busy payroll and pensions team, managing end-to-end payroll within a large organization, preferably from education, with a good understanding of the Local Government Pension Scheme and Teachers Pension Scheme.

On a personal note, you will be highly organised with the ability to prioritise work within strict timelines. Your highly developed interpersonal skills will enable you to build effective relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders and convey complex information in simple terms.

Hybrid working patterns are available and this is a 3-4 day working basis.

Travel between schools will be required. Car driver essential.

Fixed Term until January 2026.
