Major Recruitment are seeking an experienced Factory Shift Manager to join our client at their manufacturing site near South Shields

The Factory Shift Manager will be a key team player within the SLT, responsible for the manufacturing operations on a day-to-day basis and adept at driving continuous improvement activities within the scope of the role towards the achievement of operational results and standards. You will be accountable for all operations in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Morale (SQCDM), whilst communicating effectively with all key customers (Internal and External), demonstrating a flexible approach to meeting business requirements, and ensuring that all business and customer targets and standards are met.

Key Responsibilities as Factory Shift Manager:

  • Daily management of the full manufacturing process.
  • Work with all areas on manufacturing to set financial metrics, labour, budget.
  • Work on CI and lean manufacturing processes with the SMT.
  • Working with the site Technical Team with factory audits, GMP, BRC, Supplier
  • Reviewing the performance of all reporting functions - developing teams and streamlining processes.
  • Work within promoting the company values.
  • Be a role model in terms of how to collaborate and influence in order to achieve improved performance.
  • Oversight of production volumes, site efficiency, quality assurance, health & safety. Maximise profitability, drive operational excellence and develop continuous improvement strategies for production.
  • Carrying out KPI review, implementation.
  • Work on developing a succession plan.
  • Carrying out performance reviews with management.
  • Lead the application of our high quality, legal and safety standards across all production and operation areas.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team to ensure the highest standards are delivered and provide guidance. and coaching for those responsible for the day-to-day production operations.
  • Prioritise our guiding principles of Value, Quality, people, and innovation.'
  • Chair operations meetings.
  • Promote teamwork to ensure maximum involvement of all in improving performance and standards.
  • Establish initiatives that ensure the most effective return for the resources.

Skills & Experience required Factory Shift Manager:

  • A minimum of 5 year's experience within high care. Short shelf life
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions effectively.
  • Experience in leading a team through change.
  • A proven track record in developing others and encouraging decision making and accountability at the right level is essential for the role.
  • Previous experience of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement processes are essential.
  • BRCG experience
  • Experience in managing an engineering function.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or related discipline career progression.
  • HACCP Level 3, Level 4 would be desirable.
  • Level 3 Food Safety, Level 4 would be desirable.
  • H&S qualification would be desirable.
