Financial Controller

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a dynamic, highly profitable and growing company based in Southampton. This business operates on an international scale and the successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the finance function, leading a small UK-based team while ensuring financial compliance across multiple territories. This role offers a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced environment, ideal for a commercially minded finance professional looking to make a strategic impact.

• Oversee the finance function, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and financial processes run efficiently.
• Supervise and mentor the finance team, including the Management Accountant and Finance Assistant.
• Lead the production of high-quality management reporting, including monthly reporting packs, cash flow forecasts, and individual project profitability analysis.
• Take ownership of the annual budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Manage cash flow across multiple bank accounts and international locations, optimising fund movements and foreign currency exposure.
• Ensure full regulatory compliance, including preparation of financial statements, tax filings (corporation tax, PAYE, VAT), and statutory audits for both UK and Qatar operations.
• Act as the primary liaison with external advisers, including auditors, tax specialists, banks, and insurance brokers.
• Work closely with board members and senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations for business growth.
• Regularly review and optimise company structures for overseas operations, ensuring the most effective financial arrangements are in place.

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong technical and commercial acumen.
• Proven experience in financial leadership roles, ideally within an international business setting.
• Strong management skills, with the ability to develop and mentor a finance team.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience with multi-currency treasury management and financial compliance across different jurisdictions.
• Proactive and adaptable, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Strong IT skills, with the ability to optimise finance systems and reporting processes.

• Competitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum.
