Join our dynamic and growing team at CIUS, a leading utility company in the UK energy sector. We specialize in the maintenance and installation of critical infrastructure, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of energy across the region. We are currently seeking an experienced HGV Driver with pole installation experience to support our Overhead Lines Teams.


As an HGV Driver, you will be an integral part of our Overhead Lines Teams, operating auger for pole installations and responsible for transporting essential materials, tools, and equipment to various sites. Your role will support the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead power lines. This position requires a high level of attention to safety, adherence to regulations, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.


Key skills:

  • Safely operate HGV vehicles to transport poles, tools, and other materials to and from work sites.
  • Operate poling augers to drill holes for pole installations, ensuring precision and safety in all operations
  • Utilize HIAB cranes for the safe loading and unloading of poles and other heavy materials, ensuring efficient handling on-site.
  • Operate and manage on-site equipment such as cranes, winches, and hydraulic tools, ensuring they are used safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies, ensuring that all transport and operational activities meet legal and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, and any incidents, ensuring all paperwork is completed promptly and accurately.
  • Work closely with the Overhead Lines Team to coordinate operations, providing support as needed to ensure projects are completed safely and on time.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards, contributing to a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.


Qualifications and experience:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role within the utility or construction sector, preferably involving overhead lines or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in operating poling augers for drilling and pole installations is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating HIAB cranes, with a strong understanding of safe lifting practices.
  • Experience with the operation of other specialised equipment such as cranes or winches.
  • Familiarity with utility industry standards and regulations.
  • The role involves demanding manual labour, including lifting and working at heights.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices related to the transportation of materials and site operations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a high-pressure environment.


Additional:

  • HGV Licence
  • Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is required.
  • First Aid qualified
  • Hold a clean driving licence
