CNC Engineer (Model & Prototyping)

Purpose
The CNC Engineer will work within a model shop environment, performing planned and a quick turnaround service for internal projects and engineering teams. The role holder will be responsible for manufacturing prototypes from conceptual designs/drawings linked to the invention, innovation and development of electric motors and their drive systems. They will also focus on contributing to and supporting the development of NPI strategy and operations.

Duties
Manufacture of components in line with design requirements through programming, setting, and operating 3 & 4 axis CNC machinery (Conversational and G Code)
Collaborating with engineers and project teams to meet prototype needs.
Perform first article inspection using metrology and inspection equipment.
Provide technical advice and troubleshooting assistance to engineers on design feasibility for in house machining and provide proposals for design changes where required.
Using CNC millturn and VMC capability plus other engineering equipment to achieve delivery.
Ensure equipment operability via inspection and preventive maintenance requirements.
Investigate additive and other technologies to move the business forward and put forward business cases for new machinery.
Responsibility for ensuring a safe and controlled workshop environment

Parts produced within department comply with drawings, model specifications and best practices
Responsible for maintaining and developing a safe and controlled workshop environment.
Continuous Improvement, as an example the ability to work in accordance and instigate change through 5S (ETA 7S) methodology

Qualifications
HNC/HND in a relevant Engineering discipline.
Technical degree or Apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline. Equivalent relevant work experience.

Experience
Excellent understanding of tooling and material properties within machining applications
Knowledge of manufacturing production and engineering processes.
Experience using CAD/CAM.
