Authorising Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical) |Commercial Building Services Industry |Hybrid (Home-based with UK-wide travel) | 55,000 + 4,800 Car Allowance & Employment Package.

Due to a large company / contracts expansion, We are seeking an experienced Authorising Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical)to join our dynamic team within the commercial building services sector. This is a hybrid role, combining the flexibility of working from home with regular travel across the UK to oversee projects in a wide range of environments, includingdata centres, corporate offices, and other commercial settings. As an Authorising Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring safety compliance, reviewing and authorising safe systems of work, and providing expert advice on high-risk activities, particularly around critical systems. This role is pivotal in maintaining operational excellence and safety standards across our diverse portfolio of clients.

Package: What is in it for you?

  • Job Title: Authorising Engineer
  • Status: Permanent, PAYE
  • Basic Salary: 55,000 per annum
  • Car Allowance: 4,800 per annum
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00am - 5:00pm
  • Location: Hybrid Working: Home based, visits to client sites / projects, office based once per quarter (every 3 months).
  • Project Portfolio: Data centres, corporate office space, pharmaceutical sites and other commercial settings.
  • Portfolio locations: UK Mainland.
  • Holiday: 25 days + 8 bank holidays (total 33 days).

Key Responsibilities:

  • As the Authorising Engineer, you will be responsible for:Review, audit, and authorise safe systems of workfor electrical or mechanical installations and maintenance activities.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on statutory complianceand best practices.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits across a variety of commercial settings, including data centres and offices.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with relevant Health & Safety regulationsand industry standards.
  • Deliver training and guidance to on-site teams, ensuring the competency of those carrying out high-risk activities.
  • Act as the technical authority for complex electrical or mechanical systems, ensuring the highest standards of operational safety.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and on-site teams, providing ongoing support as needed.
  • Carry out UKwide travel to client sites, working on a diverse range of projects within the commercial building services sector

Requirements for Authorising Engineer:Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electricalor Mechanicaldiscipline.
  • Proven experience in a similar Authorising Engineerrole within the commercial / criticalbuilding services.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, HTM 06-02or HTM 03-01).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients and contractors at all levels.
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK with flexibility to work on-site when necessary.
