Are you a seasoned logistics manager with experience gained within the container imports sector, and a passion for driving operational excellence?

We are seeking a dynamic National Imports Manager to join a well-regarded global logistics and shipping organisation. Reporting to the Head of Operations, youll manage all branch operations at the companys Southampton location, as well as overseeing its import operations throughout the UK. As a key leader within its UK operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and effective import processes, customer satisfaction, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee Import Operations: Manage and optimize all aspects of import operations, including customer service, credit control, and carrier haulage.

Logistics: Maximise carrier haulage space and utilisation

Drive Performance: Ensure high-quality performance from your team, monitor KPIs, and identify areas for improvement.

Customer Focus: Build strong relationships with customers and deliver exceptional service, exceeding their expectations.

Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of Import, Operations and Credit Control staff, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities. Encouraging extra mile performance.

Financial Management: Oversee budgets, manage costs, and ensure profitability.

Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and industry standards.

Strategic Thinking: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to support the growth of the UK business.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree-level education preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing import operations within the logistics industry.
  • Strong understanding of container imports, deep-sea carriers, and port operations.
  • Excellent leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (advanced-level skills are a definite requirement).
