Teaching Assistant – Secondary School in Southampton

A well-regarded secondary school in Southampton, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a long-term role until at least July 2025, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate. The successful applicant will work closely with the school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) department and collaborate directly with the SEND Manager to support students with a range of additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Assist in delivering differentiated lessons that accommodate various learning needs.
- Work closely with the SEND Manager to implement effective strategies for student engagement and progression.
- Support students with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and other learning challenges.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, assisting in classroom behaviour management.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SEND department.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure SEN students can access the full curriculum.

Requirements:- Experience working with students with SEN, including ASD, SEMH, or other learning needs, is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for supporting students’ academic and emotional development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teachers and other staff.
- Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Relevant qualifications in Education or SEN are advantageous but not essential
- Competitive daily pay rates (£82 – £95), depending on experience.
