Were seeking an experienced HR Advisor to undertake comprehensive HR Advisory and employer relations advice to managers.

  • To provide first level professional advice and support to ensure changes to workforce structures and working practices are managed in accordance with policies.
  • To support the HR Business Partners in the implementation of appropriate HR and OD interventions that support employee engagement and improve performance outcomes.
  • To provide first level of HR support for employee relations queries and case work against policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to workforce planning activity using information and insight on workforce needs and providing solutions and support to develop performance and productivity.
  • To support the training, learning and development needs of employees and those working to deliver priorities.
  • To work with management teams ensuring that processes are executed efficiently and effectively and in accordance with policies and agreed procedures.
  • To provide support to HR and OD projects and activities to improve the HR service, developing the organisation as a great place to work and employer of choice.
  • To help ensure good working relationships with TU representatives, to deliver effective business resolutions and outcomes and minimise workplace disputes.
  • To provide professional advice and support to managers on all aspects of HR and OD policy and practice, in line with the Workforce Strategy.
  • To maintain accurate and objective records of all HR activity and interventions in accordance with agreed procedures and practice.
  • To undertake effective diagnosis of HR and OD issues and to take action to mitigate risks and to avoid repetition or escalation of issues.
  • To research and develop HR policies to meet organisational and legislative needs.
  • To work with the administrative support to the service and ensure timely and accurate information and advice for staff and managers.

CandidatesWe are seeking experienced HR Advisors with a solid background of employer relations case work and ideally good data management skills.

  • Member of CIPD (post grad level qualified or working towards)
  • Understand people management policy and practice and have some experience of advising managers in a large organisation.
  • Experience of research, development and implementation of pragmatic and business focused HR policies.
  • The ability to undertake training needs analysis to support change.
  • Understand the principles of workforce planning and how this contributes to organisational effectiveness.
  • Understanding equality issues in the workplace.
  • Experience of managing positive employee relations.
  • Experience of interpreting and presenting HR data and information to enable effective decision-making.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a range of voluntary, private and public sector partners and stakeholders to deliver shared objectives
  • Experience of providing balanced professional HR advice and guidance to managers and supporting managers at all levels in employment matters.
  • Understanding and commitment to using digital and web-based solutions to improve productivity and performance.
  • Excellent level of IT literacy to be able to use self-service, digital user platforms and applications and MS Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present data and information clearly.
  • The ability to handle standard employee relations issues and resolve workplace conflicts, case work and disputes.
  • The role is offered on a temporary basis via Hays with an initial contract until Dec 29th and then further extension until 31st March 2025.
  • Full-Time - 37 hours
  • Hybrid/flexible working with a requirement to work in an office in Southampton
