School HR AdvisorSchool HR Advisor | Southampton | Human Resources | £13 - £15 | TemporaryYour new companyIn the heart of Southampton, this outstanding trust is looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join their team to cover long-term sickness. This is an amazing opportunity to gain experience of working with a trust in multiple schools.Your new roleYour new role will include:

  • Providing support to the HR and recruitment functions of the trust as directed by the HR Lead and Director of People.
  • Providing HR Advisor support to the Director of People and Trust HR Lead, always ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Providing HR Advisor support to the Executive Team and Principals for the Trust, as directed.
  • Working under your own initiative to ensure that the workload is prioritised and efficiently completed.
  • Supporting the vision and value of the Trust, embedding them into your work practices.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Work effectively within the Trust to ensure the Trust's visions are upheld.
  • Actively promote the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination from taking place.
  • Maintain awareness of and commitment to the Trusts' Equal Opportunity Policies in relation to both employment and service delivery.
  • Fully comply with the Health and Safety at work Act 1974 and all locally agreed safe methods of work
  • Work will colleague to achieve targets and objectives

Your duties as an HR Advisor will include:

  • Ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in all levels of work
  • Completing the HR Induction and new starter processes for all new staff
  • Supporting the administration leads in the academies with all aspects of staff absence management and ensuring accurate recording of absence data on to the Access system.
  • Preparing absence management letters
  • Being the first point of contact for staff regarding maternity/paternity leave and ensuring accurate information is provided to the payroll.
  • Supporting recruitment of all new staff as and when.
  • Ensuring personal contact details are amended and updated for all staff.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date staff records.
  • Providing analytical/ statistical data for staff as requested by the Trust HR team to support statistical requirements.

This list is not exhaustive, and other duties may be required as part of the role, at the discretion of the Chief Finance and Operations Officer and commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility.Essential Requirements

  • Experience of working in an HR environment
  • Experience of providing recruitment advice
  • Experience of providing HR advice
  • Ability to apply numeric and thorough analytical skills
  • High level of computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience maintaining accurate HR records effectively and efficiently
  • Effective communication and presentation skills - both oral and written
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service, both externally and internally
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work effectively in a confidential environment and maintain confidentiality in all circumstances
  • Ability to identify own training needs
  • Ability to demonstrate independent working and deal with conflict should it arise
  • Ability to work effectively in a safeguarding environment
