Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a HR Advisor for our client a local government organisation based in Southampton.

The successful candidate will provide timely and effective HR and OD advice and support to the HR Business Partners and to management teams across the organisation.

Facilitating the delivery of the organisation's Workforce Strategy, enabling the development of workforce capability and capacity and ensuring effective employee relations across the organisation.

Ensure the development and implementation of effective HR policy and practice for the organisation as a modern and sustainable organisation and employer of choice.

This is a 4 month starting contract with the possibility to extend. Hybrid working available.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Provide first level professional advice and support to ensure changes to workforce structures and working practices are managed in accordance with policies
  • Support the HR Business Partners in the implementation of appropriate HR and OD interventions that support employee engagement and improve performance outcomes.
  • Provide first level of HR support for employee relations queries and case work against policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to workforce planning activity using information and insight on workforce needs and providing solutions and support to develop performance and productivity.
  • Support the training, learning and development needs of employees and those working to deliver priorities.
  • Provide professional advice and support to managers on all aspects of HR and OD policy and practice, in line with the Workforce Strategy.
  • Maintain accurate and objective records of all HR activity and interventions in accordance with agreed procedures and practice.
  • Undertake effective diagnosis of HR and OD issues and to take action to mitigate risks and to avoid repetition or escalation of issues.
  • Research and develop HR policies to meet organisational and legislative needs.

Personal Requirements:

  • Ideally previous experience of working in local government.
  • Be able to support training and learning and development needs of employees.
  • Able to create reports/data to support HRBP and service area managers.
  • Member of CIPD (post grad level qualified or working towards).
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions in resolving case work (Desirable).
  • Experience of presentation skills for groups of managers (or similar) for policy and employee relations issues and updates (Desirable).
  • Understand people management policy and practice and have some experience of advising managers in a large organisation.
  • Experience of research, development and implementation of pragmatic and business focused HR policies.
  • Understand the principles of workforce planning and how this contributes to organisational effectiveness.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a range of voluntary, private and public sector partners and stakeholders to deliver shared objectives.
  • Understanding and commitment to using digital and web based solutions to improve productivity and performance.

Working Hours: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday - Friday

Pay: £22.32 p/h
