The Desktop Support Technician will be responsible for supporting three distribution locations and remote employees with a mixture of laptops, desktops, printers (laser and thermal) and other IT equipment related to distribution centre operations, such as mobile computers and scanners. Our client is seeking someone who ideally has experience working in a distribution environment as you will be supporting teams who are both warehouse (distribution centre) and office based, togetherwith excellent customer and technical support skills.

Main duties will include:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for all end user devices
  • Deploy Windows-based desktop & notebooks
  • Computer imaging using SCCM
  • Respond to user requests through ticketing system, Service Now
  • Communicate with team members and users of all levels both verbally and written
  • Knowledgeable about viruses and virus removal and security principles
  • Unlock,reset and administrate user and computer accounts in Active Directory
  • Work collaboratively using email & Microsoft Teams as communication tool
  • Set priorities and meet project expectation deadlines
  • Coordinate warranty covered repairs with vendors
  • Asset management of computer equipment and software licensing
  • Maintain various models and types of printing devices
  • Manage and escalate critical issues to management or relevant team

Experience of the following is preferred

  • Desktop and laptop support, including support of Windows 11
  • Microsoft Office products
  • Using an MDM solution (desirable)
  • ITIL or equivalent experience (desirable)
  • Active Directory; specifically, Users and Groups
  • Configuration and support of printers and IT equipment
  • UK Driving licence as there will be a requirement to attend other sites on occasion

Good time management skills and able to handle conflicting priorities. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to follow step by step technical specifications. Ability to work independently and remotely, with limited supervision
