Hours: 08:30 – 15:30

About the role: This role is a SEN TA role in a school in the Southampton area. You will be working part-time, starting September 2024. The role also has the opportunity to become permanent.

About the School:

The school, rated 'Good' by Ofsted, is located near Southampton and serves students aged 11 to 19, with a total enrolment of approximately 300 students. The school takes pride in its high teaching standards and fosters a friendly, enthusiastic team that works collaboratively on all aspects of teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

-          Work with teachers to develop and deliver engaging lessons across different subjects.

-          Provide individualised or small-group support to students, including those with special educational needs.

-          Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation.

-          Contribute to the creation of educational materials and resources.

-          Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a disciplined, respectful environment.

-          Help monitor and evaluate student progress.

Requirements:

-          Preferred experience working with children who have additional needs (SEMH, ASC, ADHD, etc.).

-          A strong interest in supporting students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (ages 11-19).

-          Provide small-group interventions in subjects such as Reading, Maths, and Literacy.

-          Build an understanding of each student's unique needs.

-          Ensure students' special requirements are met by offering appropriate clarifications, tools, materials, and adjustments for full access to lessons.

-          Support students in developing effective study and organisational skills.

-          Assist students in staying focused and enhancing their motivation.

-          Address students' behavioural and emotional needs in accordance with classroom and school policies.

-          Implement and support individualised programs designed for each student.

Qualifications:

-          Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

-          Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance or Education are advantageous but not essential.
