An esteemed educational institution in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) to join their team. Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy.
  • Liaise with and advise fellow teachers to ensure the implementation of an inclusive curriculum.
  • Coordinate the provision for students with special educational needs.
  • Support the identification of and strategies for students with SEN.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN.
  • Manage the SEN team of teaching assistants, ensuring resources are utilised effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a substantial amount of teaching experience.
  • National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination or a willingness to work towards it.
  • Proven experience in SEN coordination and leadership.
  • Strong understanding of the strategies needed to establish high quality learning and the ability to implement these effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
