Lead Fabrication Estimator | Calmore, Southampton | Mon-Thu – 07:30 - 17:30 / Fri – 07:30 - 13:30 Additional hours may be required dependant on client requirements | Salary Range: £40K to £45K 

Our client is a well-established mechanical engineering organisation, offering complete project services to a variety of industries including Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas, Power, Water and Pharmaceutical. Working to the relevant industry codes and standards, our client takes pride in delivering high end solutions to client specific requirements with a key emphasis on safety & quality assurance.

The successful Fabrication Estimator will lead and develop multidiscipline construction estimates for the tendering of various projects such as structural steelwork, walkways, ladders, access platforms, modular skid base frames, atmospheric tank fabrications and other bespoke welding/ manufacturing requirements within the industries.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of word and excel
  • A sound engineering background in the Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas or similar industry.
  • The position also demands a high level of mathematical / numerical competency and communication skills.

What will your role look like?

  • Prepare, compile and co-ordinate the development of the estimate, ensuring all required estimating documentation is completed and issued to the Sales & Estimating Manger in line with the bid schedule.
  • Read and interpret ITT/RFQ documentation in full, raise any TQ’s or where information is believed to be missing or unclear.
  • Participate in tender analysis and risk reviews along with the Sales & Estimating Manager & Operations Director.
  • Prepare material quantity take-offs (Steelwork etc.) from drawings and specifications provided within the enquiry documentation.
  • Work with subcontractors and suppliers to prepare and distribute enquires to obtain accurate quotations for materials and sub-contract activities required for the RFQ.
  • Accurately complete labour requirements for each RFQ.
