Gap Healthcare is recruiting on behalf of one of our valued clients for a Deputy Manager position. This role is based in Southend-on-Sea within a supportive residential and educational setting for adolescent males.
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to join our team. This role is crucial in providing a happy, welcoming, motivating, and caring environment where young people can thrive through our therapeutic approach. You will support the effective day-to-day running of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager, lead a team of staff, manage resources and budgets, and engage directly with the young people when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and OFSTED regulations.

Safeguard and promote the welfare and development of young people.

Manage staff teams, work allocations, and lead shifts to ensure the safety and engagement of young people.

Oversee care plans, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and implemented effectively.

Maintain positive working relationships with parents, social workers, schools, and other professionals.

Ensure high standards in daily operations, health and safety, and compliance with safeguarding procedures.

Promote education and support young people in attending and engaging with their educational programs.

Conduct staff supervisions and manage rotas in line with occupancy levels.

Participate in on-call duties as part of the management rota.
Person Specification:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years’ experience working within residential childcare.
-
Minimum 1 year’s experience in a senior role managing staff.

Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015.

Willingness to undertake Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent.

2 years’ experience at a senior level in residential childcare.
