Your new companyHays are seeking an energetic, skilled and caring practitioner to support children with additional learning needs for one of our schools based in the Sefton area. The school is looking for someone to support in KS1 on a 1-1 basis. This position is fixed term until August 2025 (in the first instance) and is linked to SEND funding.Your new roleYou will support children with additional learning needs in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher. You will work closely with other professionals in Key Stage 1 and act on recommendations from external agencies such as SALT, OT, EP and the Autism Support Team. What you'll need to succeed

  • Have confidence in supporting children on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs
  • Be able to set high expectations for themselves and children
  • Have a willingness to contribute positively to our happy team and become involved in the wider aspects of school life
  • Be able to meet the demands of the KS1 curriculum
  • Have excellent basic skills in English and Maths.
  • Be a highly skilled communicator.
  • Motivate and encourage the pupil(s) as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils' needs
  • Liaise with class teacher, SENDCO and other professionals about the pupil profile and/or Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP), contributing to the planning and delivery as appropriate
  • Be consistent and effective when implementing agreed behaviour management and social communication strategies
  • Help to make appropriate resources to support the pupil
