Kitchen Designer & CAD Technician
Location: NewarkSalary: Competitive, based on experience 28 - 40k
Contract: Permanent Hours: 40 hours a week - 9am to 5pm - Monday to Friday and every alternate Saturday with a day off in the week.
Kitchen Designer & CAD Technician role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Designer & CAD Technician to join our client's high-end kitchen design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in luxury kitchen design, exceptional CAD skills creating detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D models for luxury bespoke kitchens and a deep understanding of bespoke kitchen projects. This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to manage projects from concept to completion.
Kitchen Designer & CAD TechnicianKey Responsibilities:
- Lead the design process for bespoke kitchen projects, ensuring high-quality aesthetics and functionality.
- Create detailed technical drawings and 3D renders using CAD software.
- Work closely with clients, architects, and interior designers to develop customized kitchen solutions.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Provide technical support to the manufacturing team, ensuring designs are production-ready.
- Stay updated on the latest kitchen design trends, materials, and finishes.
- Conduct site visits to assess spaces and take accurate measurements.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to source premium materials and appliances.
- Collaborate with the sales team to present design concepts to clients.
- 2D Drawings: Produce accurate and detailed technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and detailed joinery drawings for manufacture.
- 3D Modelling: Create realistic and precise 3D models of kitchens, cabinetry, and furniture for client presentations and internal design development.
- Software Expertise: Work efficiently with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino 3D, Fusion 360, SketchUp, or similar industry-standard CAD software to develop and refine designs.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Understand construction methods, cabinetry assembly, and high-end finishing techniques to ensure designs are both aesthetically refined and manufacturable.
- Material Understanding: Work with wood, veneers, solid surfaces, stone, and metals, specifying appropriate materials based on design and structural integrity.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers, clients, project managers, and workshop teams to translate concepts into production-ready drawings.
- Problem-Solving: Identify potential design or manufacturing issues and propose practical solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure precision in measurements, tolerances, and joinery details, maintaining the highest quality standards.
Kitchen Designer & CAD TechnicianCriteria:
- Proven experience in a similar role within luxury bespoke kitchens, high-end joinery, or furniture design.
- A degree or background in Art, Design, Product Design, Architecture, or Cabinet Making is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in at least one of the following CAD programs: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino 3D, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and translate design intent into technical drawings.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, CNC machining, and traditional joinery techniques.
- Experience working with bespoke materials and finishes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a design and manufacturing team.
- A portfolio demonstrating high-quality technical drawings and 3D models.
- Excellent creative design skills.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in luxury kitchen design.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
- Experience in high-end kitchen design, manufacturing processes, and materials.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
