Meridian Business Support are working on behalf of a client based in Newport, Wales. They are looking for a qualified and experienced Senior Procurement Manager with experience working within a managerial role within procurement within the public sector.

Our client is currently undertaking an ambitious programme of work to significantly transform their operating systems / processes with the aim of providing a new unified and modern digital service to their customers.

They are looking for an experienced procurement professional, someone with senior public sector experience, strong skills and an ability to deliver effective commercial outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

You will work alongside commercial colleagues and engage collaboratively with other internal staff and external stakeholders / suppliers, (such as our external Client-Side Service provider) to ensure successful delivery of:

  • satisfactory outcomes against the terms of the Phase 1 contract, this may involve responding quickly and effectively to manage and resolve any issues associated with delays and/or challenge around contractual terms.

  • a robust Phase 2 contract. Making sure terms are understood, agreed and accurately reflected in the draft Phase 2 contract prior to signing.
The Ideal candidate will be
  • A highly experienced Commercial professional with a proven track record of delivering complex public sector contracts in a highly pressurised environment.

  • Able to demonstrate strong commercial focus, active commercial risk management, as well as positive and proactive engagement with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • You will have extensive and recent experience of public sector procurement (ensuring compliance with the Public Contract Regulations), significant practical experience and understanding of procuring across Frameworks (including their terms and conditions)
