Bookkeeper – £25,000 -£35,000 – depending on experience – St Albans, Hertfordshire

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team in St Albans. You will play a key role in supporting the finance department by managing daily transactions, reconciliations, and accounts management. This position offers a chance to grow with a stable and rapidly expanding company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers.
  • Prepare daily remittance reports and identify any discrepancies.
  • Reconcile invoice discounting and bank accounts.
  • Post and verify received invoices, escalating any issues.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of the sales ledger with account managers.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts and bank reconciliations.
  • Carry out credit collection calls when needed.

The Person

  • Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within a similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including VAT.
  • Experience with SAGE 50 (multi-currency) and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ/SVQ, AAT) are desirable.
  • Payroll experience is a plus.
