REED Practice are pleased to be recruiting for an exciting Accounting Solutions Supervisor. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of clients and providing comprehensive accounting services including bookkeeping, VAT returns, management accounts, and year-end accounts. The successful candidate will be a key player in supervising and supporting the wider Accounting Solutions team.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide a comprehensive bookkeeping, VAT, management, and year-end accounts compliance service for a variety of clients using both manual and computerised accounting systems.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring all VAT compliance workflows are handled efficiently, meeting all deadlines for VAT returns, intrastat, and EC sales lists.
- Assist managers and partners with VAT registration, deregistration, HMRC enquiries, and technical queries.
- Ensure timely and accurate information flow to the Tax Department for the preparation of forms P11D.
- Monitor and manage the flow of accounts and management accounts through the department to meet all deadlines with a turnaround of no longer than 8 weeks.
- Supervise and support the wider team, providing guidance and sharing knowledge, especially in the Department Manager’s absence.
- Work closely with the Department Manager to refine departmental procedures, improve efficiency, and develop the department to generate new client business.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Significant experience in accounts preparation, bookkeeping, and VAT work, ideally at the level of Accounts Senior or equivalent.
- Qualified to at least ACCA, ACA standard, or equivalent by experience.
- Strong technical and commercial knowledge of accounting processes including current accounting standards, VAT, and corporation tax matters.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain rapport with clients.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, managing multiple deadlines and prioritising tasks effectively.
- Proficient in using computerised accounts software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks, and confident in Excel.
