Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Advisor to join a reputable payroll bureau based in St Albans. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a forward-thinking organisation that values its employees and offers a supportive, collaborative environment.

As a Payroll Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring compliance with legislation, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process end-to-end payroll for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.

  • Handle payroll queries from clients and employees, providing clear and professional advice.

  • Manage auto-enrolment pensions, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.), and other payroll-related tasks.

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and ensure compliance.

  • Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies as required.

  • Support the implementation of new payroll systems or processes.

  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.

  • Collaborate with the wider payroll team to ensure seamless service delivery.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a payroll role, ideally within a payroll bureau, accountancy practise or similar environment.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and statutory payments.

  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Star, Sage, BrightPay, or similar).

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • A proactive and customer-focused approach.

  • CIPP qualification or willingness to work towards it is desirable but not essential.
