Are you a proactive and experienced development professional looking to take the next step in your career? Out client is looking for a Development Manager to drive residential projects from land handover through the planning and pre-construction stages, ensuring high-quality, viable developments.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing project appraisals, optimising developments for value, securing planning approvals, and leading multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll work closely with landowners, local authorities, consultants, and internal teams to bring projects to life.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading the development stage of projects, ensuring financial viability and successful planning approvals
  • Managing external consultants and technical teams to develop high-quality, sustainable housing proposals
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including planning authorities, local communities, and housing providers
  • Overseeing project risks, budgets, and programme timings to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Collaborating with sales, commercial, and construction teams to optimise design, costs, and buildability

Essential Skill:

  • You will have proven development management experience in either a Housebuilding or Registered Provider environment
  • Ability to lead on a varied and mixed portfolio of open market/s106 and affordable schemes
  • You will be responsible for the whole development process from land acquisition stage to obtaining financially viable and technically sound planning consents
  • Track record of leading and managing multi-discipline teams of consultants, fostering good relationships and ensuring development layouts are optimised to maximise value
  • Most importantly, you will be able to demonstrate financial and commercial awareness around the impact of your decisions on the development stage appraisal
