Job Purpose
We are seeking a skilled and qualified Solid Fuel Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of solid fuel appliances, including wood-burning stoves, biomass boilers, and open fires. You will ensure all work complies with industry standards and health and safety regulations while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair solid fuel heating systems, including wood-burning stoves, open fires, biomass boilers, and chimneys.
- Conduct inspections and safety checks on solid fuel appliances.
- Diagnose and resolve faults in solid fuel heating systems.
- Provide guidance and advice to customers on the safe and efficient use of solid fuel appliances.
- Ensure compliance with HETAS regulations and other industry standards. Perform flue and chimney sweeps, as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and submit reports as required.
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete installations and repairs.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practice
Skills & Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in solid fuel engineering or heating engineering.
- HETAS certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in installing and maintaining solid fuel heating systems
- Strong knowledge of solid fuel appliances and their operation.
- Good understanding of building regulations and health & safety requirements.
- Full UK driving license.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently.
Desirable:
- Experience with biomass boiler systems.
- Additional heating or plumbing qualifications.
- Experience working in domestic and commercial settings.
