POST : Estates Cross-College Technician

DEPARTMENT/FACULTY : Estates & Facilities

RESPONSIBLE TO : Head of Estates & Facilities

Estates Operations Manager

Director of Finance/Estates

POST OBJECTIVE:

To undertake general technician duties across the College estate. Liaising with Estates team members and College staff to ensure quality and effectiveness of the College Group Estates operation. Liaise with suppliers and contractors who provide a support service to the College Group.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES:

  1. General technician duties across the College.
  2. Daily maintenance, cleaning/servicing of College equipment.
  3. To ensure that all duties are completed in line with the College Health & Safety policy.
  4. To contribute effectively to the operation of a quality support service.
  5. To work as part of the Cross College teams as and when required.
  6. To drive College vehicles as and when required.
  7. Internal and external litter picking duties.
  8. Repair, maintain and clean College buildings, grounds, and facilities.
  9. General porterage duties.
  10. Routine maintenance and repair of College equipment.
  11. Internal building alteration to repair or improve College estate.
  12. Participate in the development and implementation of a broad range of maintenance procedures.
  13. To undertake and complete agreed training qualifications.

ADDITIONAL TASKS:

  1. To comply with the College Group's Professional and Academic Standards at all times
  2. To provide education and training in a learning environment approved by the institution.
  3. To undertake essential and role-related activities/CPD
  4. To ensure full compliance with all related College Group policies and procedures.
  5. To work within College Group policies on Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities.
  6. To comply with the College Group's Safeguarding and whistleblowing policies and procedures.
  7. To undertake any other duties required by the line manager.
  8. To comply with the College Group's Performance Management Framework, ensuring that all direct reports have agreed targets and objectives in place which are regularly monitored, enabling direct report to meet ambitious College Group targets.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Broad experience of working within the FE sector.
  • Ability to follow routine maintenance schedule to ensure all routine tasks are completed.
  • Experience of building maintenance
  • Knowledge, experience, or skills in wet and/or mechanical trades.
  • Understanding of security and fire alarm systems
  • To undertake first aid training and first aid duties, as part of the wider Estates Team and College system
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
  • Willing to undertake training where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of current building maintenance regulations.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in quality provision and delivery
