Principal Civil Engineer (Team Leader)Rail Client

We seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join an established engineering company in Merseyside. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering a variety of rail-civil design projects across the North West while leading a team of highly skilled civil and structural engineers. Key responsibilities include acting as Contractor Responsible Engineer (CRE) across all project stages, from initial design to completion, ensuring technical excellence and compliance. You will oversee project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation while also supporting proposal development and reviewing requirements to ensure adherence to CDM design risk assessments, HSE regulations, and quality procedures. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with clients to understand their requirements and ensure successful project outcomes. We are hiring at multiple levels (Standard, Senior, and Lead Engineers) to support these critical projects.

The successful candidate MUST hold a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering and ideally be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE, IStructE). You must also have demonstrable experience as a team leader in a senior or principal civil engineering role, acting as CRE or PE (or be willing to support staff development), and have a proven track record in Civil Engineering and Project Management. Strong technical skills in civil engineering design within the railway sector is essential, including knowledge of Network Rail standards and civil design/construction principles. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. A full UK driving license is essential.

The Client is a specialist engineering company that offers a wide range of surveying, design, and consulting services within the railway industry across the Northwest of England.
