CAD Technician 

£Negotiable depending on experience 

Our busy manufacturing company based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire are looking for a Design Cad Technician on a permanent basis.

The Design CAD Technician will undertake many aspects of design work from product design of components to detailed mechanical tooling stations.

Key Responsibilities and Duties for the CAD Technician:

  • 3D CAD modelling and 2D Draughting using SolidWorks.
  • Producing, reviewing, and amending engineering drawings.
  • Detail component design.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Preparing concept designs for new products.
  • Applying manufacturing and quality specifications and assigning notes.
  • Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team.
  • Checking applicability of manufacturing and quality specifications.
  • Document management and architecture layout.
  • Entering part BOMs and routings into the ERP system.
  • Assisting with cost estimating.
  • Other general duties as reasonably required.

Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience for the CAD Technician:

  • A background of CAD Design including 3D product modelling and 2D draughting.
  • Good experience with CAD packages, SolidWorks essential.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to communicate and report with a good level of verbal and written English.
  • Ability to work well in a team and individually.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately to follow client needs.
  • Detail design experience beneficial but not essential.

Hours of work for the CAD Technician:

  •  Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm
