Depot Manager 

St Neots 

Permanent - £35-40K 

Our client, is looking for a new Depot Manager to ensure the smooth running of their warehouse.  The company is very employee-focused and has a great benefits package as well a lively, team environment.  This is a busy role which requires previous experience including people and stock management.  

As Depot Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operation and management of the busy and essential depot.  This will include:

  • Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels to maintain optimal inventory and prevent stock-outs; receiving and checking incoming deliveries for accuracy; managing stock rotation.
  • Staff Supervision: Leading and motivating a team of warehouse workers including drivers, loaders, and warehouse operatives; performance management, including coaching, training, and disciplinary actions; scheduling staff to meet operational needs.
  • Operations Management: Overseeing the picking, packing, and loading of orders for delivery; ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations within the depot; implementing operational procedures and quality control standards.
  • Customer Service: Responding to customer inquiries and addressing delivery issues.
  • Reporting and Analysis:  Generating reports like stock levels, delivery times, and operational costs.  
  • Logistics Coordination.  

To be suitable for this role, you will need the following skills and experience: 

  • Previous experience as a warehouse supervisor or similar role in a logistics or distribution environment 
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Familiarity with warehouse software for inventory tracking and order processing
  • Understanding of distribution processes, including picking, packing, and shipping
  • Strong communication skills - effective communication with staff, customers, and other departments
  • Ability to identify and resolve operational issues promptly
  • Data analysis to identify trends and make informed decisions.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
