Our client is seeking a dedicated and professional Assistant Accountant to join their team. What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant, your role will be integral to the financial operations of our client's business. You will assist in preparing monthly accounts, conducting detailed reporting and analysis. Your responsibilities will include reconciling various P&L costs on a monthly basis, assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, and completing regular management reports. You will also act as a liaison between the AP team and group purchasing stakeholders, ensuring best practices are followed. This role requires a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Assist with preparation of journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Reconciliation of various P&L costs on a monthly basis and compare estimate with amount charged to accounts
  • Assist with monthly reconciliation of balance sheet headings
  • Review of Goods Received not invoiced accrual and review of parked invoices for accrival
  • Completion of regular weekly and monthly management reports for the central group cost centres
  • Complete various ad-hoc reporting and analysis for the business as required
  • Raise purchase requisitions for some central cost centres
  • Act as the purchasing champion for group, bridging between the AP team and the group purchasing stakeholders to ensure that best practice is in place and being followed
  • Support the forecast and budget process for central cost centres
  • Undertake headcount analysis for the group cost centres

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Accountant role will bring a strong set of skills including professionalism, effective communication at all levels, flexibility in approach to work, training, working hours, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. You should be either AAT qualified or part-qualified CIMA or ACCA. Experience with accounting software packages such as SAP would be advantageous. Your ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, prioritise workload to meet deadlines, and make proactive decisions will set you apart in this role.
