Salary: £16.89 per hourAbout the Role: We are seeking a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Officer to join our Adult Social Care & Safeguarding team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that vulnerable adults who lack capacity to consent receive care that protects their best interests, in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice.Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and administer DoLS requests, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales.
  • Work closely with Best Interest Assessors (BIAs), Mental Health Assessors (MHAs), and legal representatives to ensure appropriate authorisations.
  • Liaise with care homes and hospitals to guide them through the DoLS application process.
  • Monitor and prioritise referrals, ensuring urgent cases are completed within 21 days.
  • Coordinate meetings and training for Best Interest Assessors to maintain compliance.
  • Use internal computer systems to track, update, and report on DoLS cases.
  • Ensure individuals subject to judicial scrutiny are identified and referred to legal services promptly.
About You:To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice.
  • Experience in administration and working with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with professionals at all levels.
