REED are working with a national manufacturer to recruit an experienced HR Assistant to support our HR team in fostering a health and safety culture and managing various HR and payroll processes. This role is perfect for a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a strong background in HR administration. The HR Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our HR functions in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage administrative duties for various HR and Payroll policies and processes including handling starters, leavers, transfers, terminations, and special leaves.
  • Oversee recruitment activities such as job postings, CV screening, and scheduling interviews.
  • Responsible for onboarding new employees, ensuring comprehensive inductions are conducted.
  • Support the use of HR Information Systems, T&A Systems, and Payroll Systems, including data entry, sending out contractual information, and liaising with payroll to resolve queries.
  • Maintain and update both manual and computerised HR Information Systems.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc management information reports, such as monthly headcount and absence reports.
  • Assist the HR Advisor or management team with investigations, disciplinary, and appeal meetings.
  • Manage employee absences, update the Time & Attendance system, and implement company procedures for payment as appropriate.
  • Support the HR Advisor with short-term sickness absence management, including making recommendations and liaising with Occupational Health.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Educated to GCSE Level, with a minimum of two years of generalist HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing/commercial environment.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in using databases, spreadsheets, and word processing packages.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and remain calm under pressure.
