Finance Assistant
Job Description
Role Title: Finance AssistantReports To: Finance ManagerFunction: Finance & ReportingLocation: Staines-Upon-Thames
Role Purpose:We are seeking a Finance Assistant with a proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn. The ideal candidate should have a foundational understanding of accounting principles to effectively support daily financial operations. The Finance Assistant is a key member of the finance team and must have the ability to work with financial data accurately and efficiently.
Key Accountabilities:-
Develop a strong understanding of the business’s financial system.

Assist the team with the preparation and maintenance of financial records to ensure that all invoices and transactions are correctly allocated on our accounting software.

Support accounts payable and receivables to ensure the timely processing of payments and collections.

Assist with payroll processing and related documentation.

Maintain accurate records of transactions, supporting documentation, and financial data.

Assist in the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Support the finance team with month-end and year-end close processes.

Provide general administrative support to the finance department as needed.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Assist in the continuous improvement of financial processes and procedures.
Qualifications:One of the following (or both):

AAT Level 4
-
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Experience:
-
Relevant experience or educational background in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge of the private medical insurance industry would be helpful (but not essential).

Proven expertise in working with Xero and its reporting functions.

Understanding of accountancy principles, regulatory filing requirements, and the importance of meeting deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
