Awarding Body Manager

Location: Easton on the Hill / Hybrid

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £45,941 - £54,555 per annum

Contract: Permanent

The Awarding Body Manager is responsible for the leadership, oversight and compliance of the awarding body. This role involves ensuring the integrity, quality, and compliance of all qualifications and assessments (both regulated and non-regulated), while driving innovation and growth within the organisation.

Reporting to the Governance Director, this position oversees and advises on Awarding Body compliance, leading the Regulation and Audit team to ensure efficient and supportive adherence across CIPS Group. 

The role supports the company's growth strategy by identifying regions for accreditation and maintaining UK and international regulatory recognitions, including Professional Body and Awarding Organisation status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main contact for regulators including Ofqual, Qualifications Wales, and CCEA (Deputy R.O.) regarding all awarding organisation activities.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, assess impact and manage the organisational responses to achieve ongoing compliance.
  • Responsible for reviewing information presented to the Assessment Quality Board (AQB), evaluating the impact, and recommending solutions that enable results to be released. Additionally, confirming that robust quality assurance processes have been adhered to in relation to all CIPS assessments and standards have been maintained.
  • Responsible for investigating instances of malpractice, maladministration, and other noncompliance incidents; analysing their causes and effects; and implementing procedures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Responsible for overseeing regulatory reporting, including the Statement of Compliance, conducting thematic reviews, and managing data requests.
  • Responsible for implementing an internal audit framework to identify concerns and improve qualification and EPA assessment delivery.
  • Responsible for the development of the annual Awarding Body self-evaluation and associated audit activities including End Point Assessment. This includes analysing audit results and implementing resolutions to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining EPAO and Awarding Body policies that comply with mandatory requirements set by the Regulators.
  • Working with the Markets Directors, responsible for managing international professional body and qualifications accreditations, ensuring recognition is achieved and compliance is maintained. 
  • Responsible for overseeing the approval and monitoring of global study centre and exam centre networks, ensuring that they adhere to standards and practices. 
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring a risk management strategy and sanctions policy for study centres and exam centres.
  • Responsible for overseeing the study centre audit team, including recruitment, training, and performance management. Ensure that transparent and robust standards are maintained to meet the requirements of the Awarding Body.
  • Responsible for conducting regular training for both direct and indirect members of the Awarding Body to maintain regulatory compliance and adhere to best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
