We are seeking a Management Accountant to join our team. This role involves the preparation of monthly management accounts, detailed variance analysis, and the management of financial procedures to ensure the sustainability and compliance of the organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and detailed forecasts to strict deadlines.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with budget holders to analyse both pay and non-pay expenditure.
  • Review and reconcile month-end balance sheet accounts, resolving any issues and reporting irregularities to the Director of Finance.
  • Manage treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting in line with regulatory requirements, to maximise income on surplus cash balances.
  • Prepare and finalise annual financial statements in accordance with sector and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance financial systems and procedures, ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective budget management.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring timely submission to relevant authorities.
  • Manage VAT obligations and ensure accurate and timely completion of VAT returns.
  • Produce regulatory returns and ensure compliance with all statutory and audit requirements.
  • Deputise for the Director of Finance, representing the college at external and internal events as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant, preferably within an educational or similar sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in financial software and Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working closely with senior management and non-financial personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
