Pastoral Mentor - Secondary School - Harrow, London

Are you passionate about providing emotional and social support to students in a secondary school setting? Do you have experience mentoring young people and helping them overcome social, emotional, or behavioural challenges? LTF Recruitment is seeking a committed Pastoral Mentor to join a dynamic secondary school in Harrow, London.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting students who may be struggling with emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will provide pastoral care, working closely with students to help them navigate challenges, build resilience, and develop essential life skills for their future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer dedicated pastoral support to students in Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4)
  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and group sessions, helping students manage their emotional, social, and behavioural issues
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the pastoral team, and parents to ensure the welfare and development of students
  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging good behaviour and social responsibility
  • Track and monitor the well-being and progress of students, reporting back to senior staff as needed
  • Support students in developing coping mechanisms, confidence, and self-discipline

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with young people in a secondary school or similar environment
  • A solid understanding of pastoral care and behaviour management techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with students, staff, and parents
  • A patient and compassionate approach, with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a pastoral team

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with students with SEN or SEMH needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and practices

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Paid up to £125 per day, term time only
