Fraser Edwards is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician working on testing wheat. The right candidate will be working for a century’s old family-owned business producing a wide range of high quality roasted malted barley products for food manufacturers and award-winning brewers. We care deeply about quality; sourcing barley from the rich Hertfordshire farmlands and following a traditional malting process our malted barley is then carefully roasted to the desired specification. Quality Control, from barley reception through finished product despatch is critical to ensure our Global customers receive consistently high-quality roasted malts.
The Role:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting wide ranging analysis on incoming barley, in-process malt products and finished roasted malts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Weighing incoming and outgoing vehicles
- Performing the analysis of all barley received to ensure it meets specification prior to reception.
- Working directly with production staff, coordinating samples for analysis and reporting results
- Completing detailed analysis of finished products using modern laboratory equipment
- Producing certificated of analysis for our wide-ranging customer base
- Supporting all the administrative duties of a busy production laboratory facility
- Providing a supporting role to customer and certification audits.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience of working in a team environment
Science based GCSE’s.
Full UK Driving license or easily commute to Stansted Abbotts

- Basic salary - £27,000 - £30,000 (Depending on experience)
