We are looking for an Assistant Manager who has a background in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration to join our team in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire.

About the role:

As an Assistant Manager, you will support the Branch Manager in the smooth running of the Bishop's Stortford service centre. The role involves managing operations to ensure high-quality delivery and maximum engineer productivity. You will proactively identify and nurture new business opportunities to drive profitability and sustainable growth. Building strong customer relations is key, as is overseeing engineering projects to ensure they are executed efficiently and cost-effectively. You will mentor branch colleagues, ensuring adherence to health and safety compliance, and contribute to a safe and effective working environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Branch Manager in ensuring high-quality delivery and productivity
  • Identify and nurture new business opportunities
  • Foster strong relationships with customers
  • Oversee engineering projects from start to finish
  • Mentor and collaborate with colleagues
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies

About you:

You should have a solid technical education with engineering qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration/air-conditioning fields. Previous experience in a contracting environment is advantageous, along with high self-motivation and a focused work ethic. Demonstrating strong leadership abilities with excellent organisational and time management skills is essential. You'll have exceptional communication skills to engage effectively at all levels and work collaboratively. A flexible and adaptable approach with a positive attitude is key, as is proficiency in using computer systems (Mac and PC), particularly M365, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental issues, particularly in the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry, is preferred. A full clean UK Driving Licence is essential.

They have a fair, competitive salary of between £40,000 - £50,000 per annum dependent upon experience, plus a bonus incentive scheme. You will be provided with a hybrid company car and fuel card, together with a laptop and mobile phone. They have a company pension scheme and increasing annual leave entitlement for length of service. They also provide regular manufacturer training, annual occupational health assessments and a winter flu vaccination programme.
