World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage is currently looking to recruit a part-time Systems Design Engineer subcontractor. The role will be for 22 hours per week and will be onsite 2 of the 3 days.

Hourly Rate: 70.00ph (Umbrella)


Contract Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter).
Security Information: Please Note you must be eligible for SC Security Clearance.


Systems Design Engineer Job Description:


An excellent opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a highly collaborative team on a high profile air-launched weapon development programme. The team are responsible for developing and certifying missile systems to challenging timescales using an iterative Model-Based Systems Engineering Approach.


Responsibilities:

  • Requirements and Use Case analysis
  • System architecture design, justification and traceability
  • Functional modelling using SysML language (or equivalent) to define Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, State Diagrams and/or Block Diagrams
  • Interface definition
  • Coordination of the multiple software points of embodiment for the missile through the functional strands (on behalf of the functional stands manager)
  • In addition, this role will also be involved in supporting other group activities such as:
    Status reporting into the Project leadership team
  • Verification planning
  • Requirement maintenance (for all project owned requirement specifications)
  • Supporting non-compliance assessment and handling


Skillset/experience required:

  • Highly capable Systems Engineering practitioner, ideally with experience across the full the Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience of Model-Based Systems Engineering / SysML and use of Systems Engineering Tools such as IBM DOORS and Rhapsody is highly desirable
  • Experience of Use Case analysis and Requirements specification

Systems engineering experience (understanding of systems engineering practices and processes such as the 'V' model, product lifecycles, systems definition and V&V)
