Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join our clients sector in Ayrshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects, mostly within the domestic sector, up to a value of approximately £500k preparing detailed and competitive bids, and ensuring effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates
- Collaborating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimation
- Conducting site visits and assessments to better understand project requirements and constraints
- Preparing and presenting detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals to clients
- Monitoring project costs and progress, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods
- Ensuring compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and client requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools would be an advantage
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, or a related field
