About the Company:A highly reputable and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Stockport is looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to work with a wide range of clients, from SMEs to larger corporations, while progressing their career in a supportive and professional environment.

The Role:As an Accounts Senior, you will be responsible for preparing financial accounts, managing client relationships, and providing key financial insights. There will also be a small involvement in external audits and supporting the development of junior staff and ensure that deadlines and high-quality standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as the main point of contact for any accounting queries.
  • Leading and managing occasional audit assignments from planning through to completion for a wide range of clients, including SMEs and large corporations.
  • Reviewing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns and other financial reports.
  • Assisting with tax computations and liaising with the tax team for clients' tax returns.
  • Providing clients with financial advice and insights based on their financial data.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff members, reviewing their work and supporting their development.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong experience in preparing year-end accounts and financial statements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Proactive and able to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
