Main Purpose of Your Role: Assist in profitably engineering the Sales and Projects Business, ensuring that projects are designed in a cost-effective way as measured by the management accounts.

Goals & Objectives:

  • Responsibility for all aspects related to the engineering of the Sales and Projects business.
  • Accountable through the Head of Project and Design for the successful completion of individual projects within budget.
  • Produce mechanical, electrical, and process engineering design packs to enable the successful design, build, manufacture, commissioning, operation, and servicing of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and Tri-generation Plants (both gas and diesel-fuelled), Battery Energy Storage Schemes, and any future technologies Edina develops.
  • Provide input and support throughout the full lifecycle of a project, from sales to service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a team of designers to create innovative design solutions for power generation projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and operations, to ensure cohesive and impactful designs.
  • Manage the design process, including conceptualisation, prototyping, and final execution, while adhering to project timelines and budgets.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously elevate the design team's capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration within the design team.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, helping them grow and develop their skills.
  • Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders and clients, effectively communicating design rationale and vision.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily requirements and resources of a busy design department comprising Electrical, Mechanical Design Engineers, and CAD Technicians to ensure that all aspects of the design deliverables are delivered correctly within the required timeframes.
  • Work closely with all stakeholders: customers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, commissioning team, sales team, supply chain, and production, to understand and identify their requirements and plan the delivery of the same within the required timeframes.
  • Produce work schedules across the design department for the programming of works to meet the required deadlines imposed by various stakeholders.
  • Identify any skills gaps within the department and develop a plan through mentoring, training, and identifying external partners to cover all skills gaps.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or in a similar leadership role within the power generation or engineering industry.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design projects and creative solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Proficiency in designing software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
