We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive secondary school in Stockport. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to supporting the educational and social development of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEND, helping them to access the curriculum and make progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to adapt resources and strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Promote positive behavior, emotional well-being, and social skills development.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs), ensuring that students meet their learning targets.
  • Provide classroom support and interventions to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting back to teachers and parents/carers when necessary.
  • Assist with personal care or mobility needs for students with physical disabilities (where applicable).
Key Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally in a secondary school setting.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
Desirable:
  • Experience with specific learning difficulties (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia) or physical disabilities.
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
  • Training in behavior management or de-escalation techniques.
