As the Group Head of Payroll, you will be based at the head office basedin South Manchester Your primary responsibility will be to develop and lead a group-wide payroll function. You will build a team and platform that can scale and integrate with acquired businesses.

You will ensure that data is captured accurately, efficiently, and robustly, implementing process and system improvements where necessary. Working closely with the HR team for benefit reporting will be part of your daily tasks.

You will manage a small payroll team responsible for operating the payroll of multiple entities across the group. Your role will also involve communicating any payroll changes to the business and distributing related correspondence to employees. Ensuring compliance in line with HMRC requirements and supporting the annual external audit process will also fall under your purview.

  • Develop and lead a group-wide payroll function, building a team and platform as required for scalability and integration of acquired businesses
  • Ensure data is captured accurately, efficiently and robustly, implementing process and system improvements
  • Work closely with HR team for benefit reporting
  • Manage day-to-day operations of a small payroll team responsible for operating the payroll of multiple entities across the group
  • Communicate any payroll changes to the business and distribute related correspondence to employees
  • Ensure compliance in line with HMRC requirements
  • Support the annual external audit process

As Group Head of Payroll (managing a team of 4, you bring a self-motivated attitude with an enthusiasm for getting things done. Your excellent communication skills enable you to interact effectively across all levels of the business, including senior operational and commercial leaders.

You have a proven record in managing centralised Payroll functions and can work well within deadlines. Your strong knowledge of payroll processes is complemented by your high attention to detail. While you are compliance oriented, you understand the needs of the business.

You maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality in all matters. Your proficiency in Microsoft operating systems (Word / Excel / Outlook) is essential, as is your experience with payroll software such as Payrite, Mitrefinch Time and Attendance, and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
