Assembly Supervisor

We are seeking a Assembly Team Leader/Workshop Supervisor to lead an Assembly team for a growing manufacturer, ensuring efficient production processes and achieving manufacturing targets. This role requires a proactive leader who can plan, control, and optimize production activities while adhering to company standards and health and safety policies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the Assembly team to meet manufacturing targets, coordinating production control and performance data.
  • Plan and control the production of components/assemblies, allocating staff and equipment resources effectively to meet demand.
  • Attend daily and weekly manufacturing meetings, inputting and progressing issues.
  • Conduct daily/weekly section team briefings to foster team engagement and gather feedback.
  • Manage line-side stores, including material picking, packaging, and labelling; liaise with Interiors stores for materials planning.
  • Advise on the development and production of new and repair components, ensuring adherence to quality procedures.
  • Utilize the company ERP system proficiently for various operational needs.
  • Conduct Return to Work and counselling interviews, manage job time-booking, and carry out team appraisals.
  • Implement and record competency training matrices and individual training/development plans in conjunction with the Manufacturing Unit Manager.
  • Monitor staff output performance against targets, reviewing skills and competencies, and plan improvements or training as needed.
  • Coordinate new employee inductions with HR, providing tools, lockers, and necessary training.
  • Maintain the section to safe standards in line with Lean Manufacturing/5S standards and ensure compliance with health & safety policies.
  • Undertake internal and external training programs to stay updated with industry standards and practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven skills in managing people and familiarity with a Workshop/Assembly environment.
  • Experience using a variety of engineering equipment and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • High degree of attention to detail with a desire for high-quality output.
  • Ability to work flexibly, adapt to changing work hours or shifts, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good team worker with strong interpersonal skills to liaise with various departments.
  • Familiarity with material traceability, equipment calibration, and standard measuring equipment (SME).
